1. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION 1.1 Application English
The seca 101 software is mainly used at hospitals, medical practices and inpatient care facilities in accordance with national regulations. The seca 101 software is designed for the wireless reception of results from weight and height measurements and their storage in a patient data management system (PDMS). The seca 101 software can only receive data transmitted by devices from the seca 360° wireless system. For data transfer to a PDMS the scope of supply includes EMR modules for the following protocols: • GDT • HL7 EMR modules for other protocols are in preparation and are continuously made available on our website for download. The seca 101 software is not designed for diagnostic purposes.
1.2 User qualification The seca 101 software should only be used by persons with sufficient expertise.
1.3 Data transmission from measuring devices Scales and stadiometers from the seca 360° wireless system enable wireless transmission of measurements to your PC. The accessory required for this purpose is the seca 360° wireless USB adapter 456.

• Please take note of the information included in these instructions for use. • Keep the instructions for use in a safe place as well as the declaration of conformity they contain. • seca 101 should only be used for its intended use. • Scales and stadiometers from seca should only be used in conjunction with the seca 101 software. • Keep HF devices such as cell phones and televisions at a minimum distance of approx. 1 meter to prevent incorrect measurement or faults with wireless transmission.
Use of measured results
• Before storing and using measured values acquired with the seca 101 software (e.g. in a patient data management system), check that these values are plausible and correspond to the display on the measuring device. • Once measured values have been transmitted from the seca 101 software to a patient data management system, check that these values are plausible and have been assigned to the right patient before using them.
2.2 Safety information in the instructions for use DANGER! Identifies an exceptionally hazardous situation. If you fail to take note of this information, serious irreversible or fatal injury will result. WARNING! Identifies an exceptionally hazardous situation. 5. OPERATION 5.1 Retrieve patient data from PDMS Before measurement the patient data first has to be transferred from the PDMS to the seca 101 software. This allows you to transmit the results of measurement directly to the patient file in your PDMS. An interface which has been configured for the PDMS by your administrator is used to transmit the patient data to the seca 101 software. The exact procedure for retrieving patient data for the seca 101 software depends on the PDMS used at your facility and how your administrator has configured the interface to the seca 101 software. Contact your administrator for further information about this.
5.2 Start/exit program Start program
Click on "startPrograms secaseca Flashseca Flash". The software will start.
NOTE: • The seca 101 software can be set up so that it starts automatically whenever a user logs on under Windows. Contact your administrator. • Some PDMS can be set up so that the seca 101 software starts automatically as soon as patient data are transmitted to the PDMS interface. Contact your administrator.

If the wrong devices are selected, measured results may be assigned to the wrong patient or measured values may not be received at all. – Use the name of each device to check you have selected the right devices. – If devices in the network have been renamed or the configuration of wireless groups changed, contact your administrator. 4. Perform the measurements on the patient. 5. Check that the measured values are displayed in the fields Weight and Height of the software:
– If you are using seca 360° wireless devices with automatic data transfer activated, the measured values will be automatically transmitted to your PC. – If you are using seca 360° wireless devices without automatic data transfer being activated, press the Enter key (send/print) on the measuring devices to transmit the measured values to your PC. NOTE: • If you are not sure whether automatic data transfer is activated on your seca 360° wireless devices, contact your administrator or hospital technician.
Operation • 11
• The measured values will be displayed in the units selected as defaults in the software regardless of the settings used on the measuring devices.
6. Click on send to EMR to transmit the measured results to the electronic patient file in the PDMS. 7.
