Preparation is important... Transport locking device
Loosen transport locking device. First turn over the scales so that the baseplate is at the top. Loosen the two outer clamping screws (1). Pull out the spacers (3) between the frame (5) and the cra dle support (2) sideways and remove the clamping bar (6) with the screws and spacers. Note: Before transporting over long distances, the scales must be locked again by re-inserting the spacers and tightening the clamping screws hand tight. Therefore keep the transport locking device and packaging. 6 2

Press lock (8) in the cover of the battery compart ment towards the text “BATTERY” and open the cover. Then insert the plug (7) of the set of accumulators (10) into socket (11). Insert the set of accumulators in the battery compartment, close the cover again and engage the lock. Note: For weighing independently of the mains, the set of accumulators must be charged up before initial use by plugging the power supply unit into the scales for 24 hours. Connect the plug-in power supply unit to the mains.

How to weigh correctly… 3
The scales can be either mains or accumulator operated. A power supply unit and a set of accu mulators are supplied; both parts are connected by the following procedure. You can then choose between mains and accumulator operation.
Mains and accumulator operation
Insert the low voltage plug of the plug-in power supply unit provided into the low voltage socket (9) of the baseplate.

appears on With accumulator operation, the display if the accumulators have to be re charged. This happens automatically by connect ing the plug-in power supply unit provided.
Press the green start button (13). and then appears in sequence on the display (16). The scales are ready for operation. Zeroing takes place automatically when the scales are empty. However, if a value other than appears on the display, the start button (13) is to be pressed for zeroing prior to weighing. The empty scales switch off after 10 minutes when mains operated, and after one minute when accumulator operated. Before using the scales for further weighing, the start button must be pressed again and awaited.

Changeover kg/lbs
If you require the weight to be displayed in lbs, press the kg/lbs changeover switch (14) after switching on or while weighing. The lbs indicator (15) lights up for the lbs setting.
On scales with the Autohold function
The Autohold function is intended to save the user pressing the Hold key. It is active as soon as the scale is switched on. If a load of over 400 g is placed on the scale, the weight is automatically held in the display. Pressing the Hold key releases the weight from Hold. The Autohold function only becomes active again when a load of over 400 g is placed on the scale. This procedure can be repeated as often as required.

Taring device When the scales are switched on, there is provision for taring items such as cushions and towels, which have been placed on the scales before weighing, up to a weight of 400 grammes (14 oz). 1. Place cushion or towel on the scales – the weight is displayed. Press Tare/Hold button appears and the indicator for (12) – Tare/Hold (17) lights up. The actual weighing process can now take place. 2. When the scales are completely empty, appears automatically and the indica tor for Tare/Hold (17) goes out. Prolonging the weight display The scales offer the facility for retaining weights in excess of 400 grammes on the display after the weighing process. 1. Switch on scales with the start button (13). 2. Place the baby on the scales – the weight is displayed. 3. Press the Tare/Hold button (12) and the weight is stored. The indicator for Tare/Hold (17) flashes. 4. If the baby is taken off the scales, the weight continues to be displayed. 5. The permanent display is cancelled by press ing the Tare/Hold button (12) or the start button (13) again. The indicator for Tare/Hold goes out. 2g/5g resolution changeover switch To change over the resolution from 5g to 2g, please open the battery compartment. The switch (A) is located 6

at the end of the cable in the battery compart ment. The 2g resolution works up to a weight of 10 kg. Then 5g resolution takes over.
