How To... Clean Your SLE Single-use Flow Sensor General Each flow sensor is designed for single patient use. The sensor can be used for the duration the patient remains on the ventilator. The sensor may require cleaning during this period. The sensor should be calibrated every 24 hours - patient condition permitting. Sensor Cleaning When in use on a patient and if the sensor has been deemed to have become dirty or encrusted, the following cleaning procedure can be carried out: • Rinse the sensor body in sterile water with a gentle backwards and forwards motion (shown on right). • Drain the water from the sensor before re-insertion into the patient circuit. Do not clean the flow sensor with compressed air or water jet as this will destroy the sensor wires. The sensor cannot be re-sterilised. Please Note SLE “How to’s...” are published as a guideline by SLE Ltd, and should only be carried out by suitably trained and qualified staff. It is strongly recommended that all operatives have read and understood the User Manual before attempting these tasks.
