1. GENERAL RULES It is important to keep this instruction manual with the machine for future reference. If the machine is sold or transferred, the manual must be handed over to the new owners or user in order for them to become acquainted with its functioning and the relative warnings. The purpose of the warnings is to safeguard the user in compliance with directive "1993/42/EEC, 2006/95/EC, 2004/108/EC and subsequent changes and integrations - 2007/47/EC” and incorporated in the "Harmonised Technical Product Standards "EN 61010-1, EN 61010-2-040, EN 61326-1, EN ISO 14971, EN ISO 15883-1, EN ISO 15883-2, in agreement with what is indicated in the EC declaration of conformity.

Read the warnings carefully before installing and using the machine.

1.1 Safety recommendations. If the new machine appears to be damaged, contact the retailer before starting it. Any modification of electrical and hydraulic systems necessary to install the machine must be carried out by qualified, authorised persons only. This machine must be operated by trained persons only; The machine was designed for washing, receptacles, kidney bowls, drainage collection bottles disinfecting and other receptacles used in hospital wards, nursing homes, old-peoples homes and dentis gabinet. Any use other than that for which the machine was intended is forbidden. The user is forbidden to carry out any work or repairs on the machine. Technical Assistance for this washer disinfector should be carried out by qualified and authorised operators only. The equipment should be installed by authorised persons only. Do not install the equipment in rooms where there is the risk of explosion. Do not expose the equipment to intense cold. The electrical safety of this washer disinfector is only guaranteed if it is connected to an efficient earth system. Take great care when handling detergents and additives: avoid contact, wear gloves and act in compliance with the safety recommendations indicated by the manufacturer of the chemical products. Do not inhale the fumes produced by chemical products.

WARNING: the chemical products are an irritant for the eyes, in case of contact rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and consult a doctor. If these products come into contact with the skin, rinse with plenty of water. The water in the tank is not drinking water. The machine reaches a temperature of 95°C during t he work cycle: take great care to avoid burns. Do not wash the machine using high-pressure jets of water. Disconnect the machine from the electrical supply before carrying out maintenance work. Sound pressure is less than 70 dB(A).

The doors are constructed in high-resistance tempered glass, and a special test (HST) during manufacture certifies its integrity and sturdiness. Heat loss is contained by means of the use of a special material with a low dispersion coefficient. In spite of this, special care is advised during use due to the danger of burns.

WARNING THE MACHINE IS EQUIPPED WITH TWO DOORS, ONE FOR ACCESS TO THE CHAMBER FROM THE DIRTY SIDE, THE OTHER FOR ACCESS FROM THE CLEAN SIDE. OPENING OF BOTH DOORS AT THE SAME TIME IS PROHIBITED. THE CLEAN SIDE DOOR CAN ONLY BE OPENED AT THE END OF THE CYCLE AND AFTER PROPER EXECUTION OF THERMAL SANITIZATION. DURING NORMAL USE, USE SPECIAL CARE NOT TO STRIKE THE GLASS WITH FORCE OR VIOLENCE SINCE IT MAY BREAK.

1.2 Recommendations to ensure high quality performance You must ensure proper sanitization through periodic controls, using suitable instruments as specified in chapter 6 of standard prEN15883-1. •

When the machine is running do not interrupt the cycle since this jeopardises disinfection.

•

Check periodically using chemical indicators to ensure correct disinfection.

•

Use recommended detergents and chemical additives only. The use of other products may damage the machine.

•

Recommending chemical additives does not make the manufacturer responsible for any damage to the materials and objects treated.

•

Follow the manufacturer's indications when using chemical products and use them for the foreseen use only.

•

The machine was designed for use with water and chemical additives. Do not use organic or other types of solvent as this may result in the risk of explosion or the rapid deterioration of certain machine parts.

•

Residues of solvents or acids, particularly “hydrochloric acid”, can damage steel. Contact should be avoided.

•

Use original accessories only.

•

Do never use soap powder.

•

Do never use foaming detergent.

•

Do never use chemical products based on chlorides (bleaches, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid and so on). These kinds of chemical detergents irreparably damage the machine and jeopardise the integrity of materials and objects treated.

2 INSTALLATION (for the installer only) The machine is placed on wood pallets. To move it, use pallet transportation devices or forklifts. It is not possible to overturn the machine; follow the instructions shown on the package.

2.1 Positioning the machine The materials used for packaging are completely recyclable. • • • • • •

Open the package carefully. Cut the strap, open the packaging carton and remove the expanded polystyrene corner protections. Remove the carton. 2.1.4 Positioning of the machine In normal conditions, the minimum dimensions are suggested for the use of the machine in a single installation or with the coil nearby. For different installation ask for the distributors.

2.1.5 Room ventilation instructions The machine is equipped with an exhaust air discharge with a diameter of 120 mm and a capacity of roughly 350 m³/h The room where it is installed must have air circulation of 350 m³/h. A connection to the outside must be guaranteed for the exhaust air, with sufficient size and capacity. The heat loss of the machine is 1800 Kcal/h.

2.2 Water connection • • • • • • • • • •

This machine should be connected to the water network in compliance with current legislation The non-return system for water is already in place inside the machine. Connect using cocks with ¾” couplings in an easily accessible position. Make sure that the mains water pressure falls within 200 and 800 kPa. If the pressure is higher than 8 Bars (800 kPa) a pressure reducer must be installed. If the average hardness of the water is higher than 10°FR, decalcified water must be used. Connection to the water supply is forecast with ¾” threaded fittings. Red indicates the hot water (max 70°C) connection. Blue indicates the cold water connection. White indicates the demineralised water connection. If your demineralised water connection comes from a tank or container without pressure, the machine can be equipped with a special optional pump to increase the pressure.

2.3 Electrical connection Power supply cable: It is compulsory for the retailer - installer to adapt the insulation class of the power supply cable to suit the working environment in compliance with Current Technical Regulations. • • • • •

The electrical connection must be carried out in compliance with current technical regulations. Make sure that the mains voltage reading corresponds to the voltage indicated on the machine plate. An omnipolar magnetothermal switch sized to suit the absorption and with a contact opening of at least 3mm must be installed. Make sure that the electrical systems are efficiently earthed. The terminal on the rear of the machine and identified by the relative symbol is for equipotential connections between appliances (see rules for electrical plants).

Machines are normally equipped with three phase supply 400 Vac 3 N, on request special electrical connection available.

Other rules considered: CEI EN61326-1 of 1998: Regulations of EMC electromagnetic compatibility. Power supply disconnection: The equipment is permanently connected. The disconnection device must be installed in the main power supply board. Note: the equipment has an RS232 type connector, for connection to a printer or to a PC to save the log.

WARNING Water heating The machine can be equipped with a mixed system for the water heating. The choice can be made into UTILITY MENU, by pushing on “HEATING” button, it will be displayed the heating type.

By pushing the desired button, the machine gives the feeding heating type.

2.4 Fuses The machine is equipped with fuses for the protection of the auxiliaries. The fuses are installed in the container that holds the electronic components. The following fuses are present: • Three 5 Amp fuses, size 5x20, rapid cut-in. • One 1 Amp fuse, size 5x20, rapid cut-in, located in electronic board E083.

2.5 Chemical products connections The machine is standard equipped with 3 pumps for the dispensing of chemical products. The dispensing system for chemical products is composed of 3 containers, 10 litres each, with 3 level sensors and 3 devices for the measurement of the quantity of product dispensed. To make it easier to recognize them, each type of product is assigned a colour. Each container is matched with one of the dispensing pumps. Filling of the containers is made easier by the supplied funnel.

2.5.1 Quantity measuring device Each single dispensing pump is matched to a volumetric sensor for measuring the quantity of the chemical product dispensed. The electronic control system handles the value of the minimum quantity requested, and if necessary interrupts the cycle.

2.5.2 Level sensor Each single dispensing pump is matched to a level sensor that verifies the presence of chemical product in the container. If there is not enough product, the electronic control system of the machine sends a message to the video display that the product is missing. This "warning" signal may be changed into an "alarm" signal by changing the setting memorized in machine configuration. Attention: access to the technical compartment, where the chemical product containers are placed, is possible only with the use of keys. Access is permitted only for qualified personnel. The machine can be equipped with a fourth dispenser (optional) use for disinfectant products (GREEN) which is also matched to its level sensor and to the quantity measurement device.

2.5.3 Calibration of the chemical product dispensing system. Chemical products may have differing viscosities, such that it is advisable to recalibrate the dispensing system. To proceed to this phase, follow the following instructions for the Volumetric Method: Equipment: 2 measuring containers of 200 ml with graduated scale and with a minimum accuracy of 1 ml (roughly 1% of the quantity to be measured). 12345-

Fill one of the measuring containers to an adequate capacity (approximately two thirds) of the chemical substance to be measured. Take note of volume contained in the measuring container. Place the aspiration tube inside the measuring container and perform the "flow meter" validation cycle, which hereafter will be referred to as "operative cycle". At the end of the operative cycle, fill the measuring container up to the notch that indicates the highest measurement. Run another operative cycle.

Fill another measuring container with a known quantity and with it add some chemical from the first measuring container, up to the notch that indicates the highest measurement. 7- Note the volume of the second measuring container before and after topping it off from the first container. 8- The volume dispensed in the cycle will be the difference between the two volumes read on the second container. 9- Check whether the quantity of product dispensed for each single pump is within the tolerance assigned to the nominal quantity set by the control. 10- Repeat the above operation at least twice for dispensing acceptability. 11- If tolerance assigned to the nominal quantity set for the control, perform correction to the machine configuration section. Test specifications: A) The programmed amount for the chemical product system calibration control cycle has been set at a concentration of 3 ‰ for a quantity of water of 45 lt. B) The volume dispensed, in order to be accepted, must therefore be 135 ml, with a tolerance of ±5%. C) The activation of the "flow meters" validation program is only permitted to technicians equipped with a password. D) If the dispensed quantity does not correspond to the set value (135ml ±5%), it is necessary to access the "CONFIGURATION" menu (only with password) and at the "EQUIVALENCIES" page, modify the impulse/millilitre ratio for each dispensing system. Further information can be found in paragraph 9.9 EQUIVALENCIES in the programming manual.

WARNING To guarantee perfect operation of the chemical product dispensing pumps, it is necessary to perform regular maintenance, as described in paragraph 13.

WARNING USE ONLY LIQUID CHEMICAL PRODUCTS; the machine cannot operate with powder detergents. Chemical products may be flammable. If so, follow the instructions given in the technical and safety information of each product.

2.6 Connecting the discharge. •

The discharge pipe connection should be checked carefully. Follow carefully these instructions as a wrong drain connection can cause the block of machine.

It is necessary to follow these instructions for drain connection • • • •

The external side of the drain pipe must be connected by using a clamp closing. The drain pipe must not have irregular elbows or angles. Diameter of drain main must be of at least 50 mm. The drain pipe must be suitable for the flow of liquids at a temperature of 95°C.

If the drain system is not suitable, it is possible to install a cooling device (optional), the activation of which occurs by modifying parameter P 3.21 in the "TECHNICAL DATA" configuration menu. The drain must be made in compliance with international standards. No responsibility will be accepted if the machine is the cause of pollution.

WARNING If the drain should become blocked, use extreme caution when handling water, and be sure to avoid contact with the hands, eyes, etc. If necessary, flush abundantly with water the parts which came into contact.

2.7 Drying air filtration The DS 1000 machine, in the versions provided with ventilated drying, is standard equipped with an "F5 class" air filter in accordance with standard EN779. It is advisable to replace the filter after 100 hours, which is the equivalent of 200 usage cycles. The machine can also be equipped with an additional "absolute" type "HEPA H14" filter in accordance with standard EN1822. It is advisable to replace the filter after approximately 300 working hours, which is the equivalent of 600 usage cycles.

WARNING

The machine is equipped with a filter condition detection system; a message on the video display will provide the message "FILTERS BLOCKED". In this case it is necessary to replace the filters immediately. The machine goes into WARNING condition, and only cycles without a drying phase are enabled. The filters are not renewable. They absolutely must be replaced.

2.8 Safety signals used To inform personnel operating on the machines of obligations of behaviour and residual risks, adequate safety signals (as set forth by 92/58 EEC) are applied to the machine and near the work place. GENERIC SAFETY SIGNALS: In particular, labels with signals of obligation, prohibition and danger contained in this manual and pertinent to this machine and most commonly used are:

INDIVIDUAL SAFETY WEAR: The evaluation of risks for the health and safety of workers carried out in the workplace and on any equipment used, as well as the evaluation of residual risks as indicated, allow the employer to evaluate the need to adopt the individual protection gear which is most suitable and appropriate to be provided to workers. Considering the type of machine, it is felt that the individual protection gear should be provided to staff.

3. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS General information for the user

•

Do not dispose of this equipment as miscellaneous solid municipal waste, but arrange to have it collected separately. • The re-use or correct recycling of the electronic and electrical equipment (EEE) is important in order to protect the environment and the well-being of humans. • In accordance with European Directive WEEE 2002/96/EC, special collection points are available to which to deliver waste electrical and electronic equipment and the equipment can also be handed over to a distributor at the moment of purchasing a new equivalent type. • The public administration and producers of electrical and electronic equipment are involved in facilitating the processes of the re-use and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment through the organisation of collection activities and the use of appropriate planning arrangements. Unauthorized disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipments is punishable by law with the appropriate penalties.

4. USING THE MACHINE (for the user) 4.1 Checks •

Check the machine status on the display, and check that there are not any alarm messages.

4.2 Opening and closing the door Door opening and closing takes place by means of motorized vertical sliding. • •

This machine is equipped with a door-blocking system during operation. To open the door during washing, it is necessary to interrupt the cycle, keeping in mind that: 1. The material contained in the machine may be very hot. 2. Afterwards it is necessary to repeat the complete wash cycle. 3. Opening will be possible only on the loading side.

The machine is equipped with a key switch for opening/closing the loading side door, which can be used if a failure should shutdown the operation of the entire machine. Attention: • door movement takes place only if the red emergency push button is activated!!!!! • The emergency switch can be accessed only by authorized technical personnel equipped with the proper key.

4.3 Preparation and loading transfer The machine is equipped with a system of automatic verification of proper positioning of the basket inside the washing chamber; in case of improper positioning, the machine washing cycle start functions are disabled. The machine is also equipped with a system for the recognition of the type of basket placed in the chamber. Automatically, the matching of a specific wash cycle can be activated. The basket recognition system can be programmed by performing the following operations: On the right side of the machine, inside the washing chamber, there are 7 sensors. 5 sensors are used for the basket identification and 2 sensors (in coupled position ) are used for the correct positioning check of the basket itself.

N.B. The control code makes it possible to recognize the breakdown of an odd number of sensors (1,3,etc.), but not the breakdown of an even number of sensors. (2,4,etc). • • • • •

Insert the items to be washed, placing them carefully in the appropriate supports. The objects must not touch or cover one another. Objects which are of a container shape must be placed in such a way that liquids can flow out. Place tall, heavy objects near the centre of the basket, if possible. This will cause them to be washed more efficiently Take care not to block the washing arms; they must be able to turn freely.

Attention: the maximum allowed load for each cycle is 150.0 Kg.

5. CONTROL PANEL AND SYMBOLS USED The control panel is composed of a LCD “Touch-screen” monitor and a membrane keypad with six setting keys. The LCD monitor, depending on the programme/management status position, displays keys that can be selected by pressing the display area and which control specific control functions. For the 6-key keypad, the functions are the following: _ SYSTEM : Selection for the access to functions for the adjustment of monitor display parameters - Contrast - Brightness - Etc. _ HELP : Displays the programming help page _ MENU : Always goes back to the main menu. _ START : Makes it possible to restart a cycle after an electricity outage or after an alarm indication reset. _ OPEN : DOOR OPENING key _ CLOSE : DOOR CLOSING key

5.1 WASHING PROGRAMMES Washing programmes are built by assembling functional blocks called "PHASES" in a proper sequence, checking the handling of input parameters (water, chemicals, times, temperatures, pressures, conductivity) in order to ensure the respect for the desired quality of washing/sanitization. 5.1.1 Description of phases The phases are the main elements of the cycles and they are described below: Drain: This phase deals with emptying water out of the tank. Drainage is obtained by activating the drain solenoid valve for a time that can be set by means of a parameter which is counted starting form when the level sensor is commutated. Rinse water : This phase deals with activating the drain solenoid valve and at the same one of the water solenoid valves for a certain number of litres in order to rinse the sump. Tank pumps with settable time: This phase deals with activating the washing pumps at the same time of the drain phase. Drain cooling OPTIONAL: This phase deals with activating the cooling solenoid valve at the same time as draining, for a set time. Type of drain OPTIONAL: This phase deals with activating one of the two drain electric solenoids. Pre-washing: This phase deals with timed activation of the wash pumps after water has been loaded. This washing phase ends when the parameter-set time has expired. Additional settings: Early pump start: This phase deals with activating the pumps simultaneously with the water loading solenoid valves when a certain set parameter number of litres are still to be loaded. Pumps segmented: This phase deals with activating the pumps at intervals set by the parameters. Chemical dispensing: This phase deals with adding, at the end of washing, up to two different chemicals in controlled dosage depending on the quantity of loaded water. Treatment: This phase deals with activating the washing pumps and at the same time the heating elements are thermostat controlled to a parameter-set temperature. This washing phase ends when the set water temperature is reached and the parameter-set time has expired. Additional settings: Early pump start: This phase deals with activating the pumps simultaneously with the water loading solenoid valves when a certain set parameter number of litres are still to be loaded. Pumps segmented: This phase deals with activating the pumps at intervals set by the parameters. Chemical dispensing: This phase deals with adding, at the end of washing, up to two different chemicals in controlled dosage depending on the quantity of loaded water. Drying: This phase deals with drying the objects in the tank. For a settable time, the fan runs at the first speed. For a settable time, the fan runs at the second speed. For a settable time, the fan runs at the third speed (variable depending on the "high speed" parameter selection) and at the same time the drying heating elements are activated. The system will be configured on the parameter-set drying set point and will control the heating element based on the air temperature, for a parameter settable time. Additional settings: Steam condenser time: This phase deals with activating the solenoid valve of the steam condenser cooling fluid for a parameter-set time. The entire cycle runs with the doors closed and locked. If this condition is not met, the cycle cannot be started.

5.1.2 Pre-memorized cycles The manufacturer has also placed the following PRE-MEMORIZED cycles in the machine: -

10 pre-memorized washing cycles, called BASIC CYCLES. 5 service programs, to be handled exclusively by the installer/maintenance technician, called VALIDATION CYCLES.
