Indications For Use
This Instructions For Use manual is the most comprehensive source of information for the safe and effective use of your product. This manual may be used by in-service trainers, physicians, nurses, surgical technologists, and biomedical equipment technicians. Keep and consult this reference manual during the life of the product. The following conventions are used in this manual: • A WARNING highlights a safety-related issue. ALWAYS comply with this information to prevent patient and/or healthcare staff injury. • A CAUTION highlights a product reliability issue. ALWAYS comply with this information to prevent product damage. • A NOTE supplements and/or clarifies procedural information. If additional information or in-service training is required, contact your Stryker sales representative or call Stryker customer service. Outside the US, contact your nearest Stryker subsidiary.

Become familiar with the system components prior to use. • Only trained and experienced healthcare professionals should use this equipment. • The healthcare professional performing any procedure is responsible for determining the appropriateness of this equipment and the specific technique used for each patient. Stryker, as a manufacturer, does not recommend surgical procedure or technique. • Upon initial receipt and before each use, clean and sterilize the equipment as indicated. See the Heavy Duty Care Instructions manual supplied with the handpiece for processing instructions.

• Upon initial receipt and before each use, operate the equipment and inspect each component for damage. DO NOT use any equipment if damage is apparent. See the Heavy Duty Care Instructions manual supplied with the handpiece for inspection criteria. • Before use, ALWAYS allow the equipment to reach the operation temperature range specified in the instructions for use supplied with the handpiece. • To prevent the equipment from overheating, ALWAYS follow the recommended duty cycle specified in the instructions for use supplied with the handpiece. • Risk of Fire, Burns and Explosion. Do not Short Circuit, Open, Crush or Incinerate. Sterilize only per instructions. Consult instructions for use. • DO NOT allow the battery contacts to touch metal objects.

Indicator Light – Provides status information for the battery pack: • The light will blink when the battery pack is near the end of its charge cycle. • The light will illuminate in a steady state for 10 seconds when the battery pack is expended.

Battery Contacts – Interlock with the handpiece to complete the electric circuit.

Battery Latch – Retains the battery pack in the handpiece.

NOTES: • See the instructions for use supplied with the battery charger to properly charge the battery pack before each use. • For maximum capacity, charge the battery pack before sterilization, even if the battery pack has not been used. • A typical charging sequence will take between 5 and 30 minutes. Charging a fully expended large battery pack may take up to 75 minutes. • For maximum capacity, store the battery pack on the battery charger to maintain a full charge. DO NOT store the battery pack installed in a handpiece. Discharge will occur even though the handpiece is not operating. • Stryker recommends using battery packs that have been charged within the last 5 days.

Sterilization
NOTES: • See the instructions for use supplied with the handpiece to properly install and remove the battery pack from the handpiece. • Typical battery pack run time is 20 minutes or longer, depending on surgical procedure or technique. • When the indicator light blinks, reducing the load on the handpiece may extend the usage time of the battery pack.
