Indications For Use The Neptune Waste Management System is intended to be used in the operating room, pathology, surgical centers, and doctor’s offices to collect and dispose of surgical fluid waste as well as collect smoke generated from electrocautery or laser devices.

Contraindications The Neptune Waste Management System is contraindicated against: ▪▪ Connection directly to chest tubes. ▪▪ Connection to closed wound drainage systems.

For Use With The Stryker Smoke Evacuator ULPA Filter REF 0702-040-000 (filter) is intended for use with the Stryker Neptune 2 Rover or the Stryker Neptune 3 Rover.

Description The filter provides ultra low penetration air (ULPA) filtration of the surgical smoke evacuated from the surgical site.

BLOODBORNE PATHOGEN HAZARD ▪▪ The Bloodborne Pathogens Standard provided by the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration (US OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030) requires those with employees having occupational exposure to potentially infectious materials to establish a written Exposure Control Plan. Instructions NOTE: Rover configurations vary. See the instructions for use supplied with the rover for specific control panel and error message information.

To Replace the Filter CAUTION: DO NOT touch the filter media. Failure to comply may damage the product. NOTES: ▪▪ Replace the filter every six months or as indicated on the control panel display of the rover. Failure to comply will result in the reduction of smoke evacuation or an increase in odor. ▪▪ The filter life is 8 hours of smoke suction or 80 hours of total operating time, whichever comes first. The rover calculates filter usage time automatically. ALWAYS reset the filter timer after the filter is replaced. See To Reset the Filter Timer section. 1. Make sure the rover power switch is OFF. 2. Remove and properly dispose of the used filter (Figure 1).

To Verify Proper Filter Installation 1. Connect the rover power cord to facility power. 2. Press the rover power switch to the ON position. 3. Read the safety information on the control panel display. Based on the configuration of the rover, select OK or CONFIRM on the control panel. 4. From the control panel display, select the EVACUATE SMOKE button. Follow the display screen options, as required, to turn on the smoke evacuator. 5. Make sure an error or notification message does not appear on the control panel display. If a message appears, see the instructions for use supplied with the rover for troubleshooting information.

To Reset the Filter Timer Neptune 2 Rover 1. Access the SYSTEM SETUP menu. Select the SMOKE FILTER LIFE option and press the RESETS TIMER button. 2. Press OK to accept or ESC to cancel the change.

Neptune 3 Rover 1. Access the SETTINGS menu. Select the ACCESSORIES dialog and the FILTERS tab. 2. Touch the RESET HOURS button to set the smoke evacuation filter to 80 hours; close the dialog. Figure 1 – To Remove and Install Filter 3. Visually inspect the new filter. DO NOT use the filter if damage is apparent. NOTE: The connector located on the back of the filter is designed to be loose. 4. Mark the replacement date on the label of the new filter. 5. Install the new filter with the label THIS SIDE UP oriented correctly. NOTE: Proper filter installation does not require the filter to be installed flush with the external surface of the rover.
