INTRODUCTION Thank you for selecting this product from the large range of products manufactured in Australia by Thermoline Scientific. The materials incorporated in this design have been carefully selected for their durability, technical performance, and practicability, the resultant product is one we are proud of. THE MANUAL Please familiarise yourself with the information contained in this manual before using the equipment. Ensure that the manual is kept safe but accessible for current and future operators to refer to. UNPACKING Remove the equipment from the packing material, check that it is complete. Assemble the components and inspect for damage. Retain the packaging materials until the equipment has been thoroughly tested. Notify the detail of any damage without delay to your supplier, or Thermoline Scientific. LOCATION Place the equipment in a well-ventilated area ensure that it is mounted on a fabricated bridge or supported by the optional bath to heater bracket/clamp. Confirm that the power supply is suitable for this equipment. Refer to the equipment rating plate for details. To control temperature effectively, the equipment should be located in a stable ambient. WARNING: Ensure that the electrical outlet is earthed and is of the correct voltage and is capable of carrying the stated current load. INTENDED USE This equipment is used to provide a convenient method of maintaining the temperature of a bath to 100°C whilst circulating the water to minimise temporal variation.

CAUTION: The range of heater circulators described here are not to be used in conjunction with oil as Pyrolysis (Chemical Decomposition by Heat) will occur. WARNING: Do not use flammable solvents or combustible materials as fire or explosion may occur. This equipment uses components which may be a source of ignition. FUNCTION To provide an accurate controlled temperature between +30°C to +100°C. Model TU-1: ambient +5° to +100°C. PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION The analogue range of Heater Circulators are designed to be compact, light and efficient heater circulators of water. They are ideally suited to Laboratory Bath applications where minimal spacial variation is tolerated. The analogue controller, and long shaft (240 Volt) electric motor are located within the controls enclosure. Below is suspended, the circulating pump housing, heating element and sensor. The desired operating temperature is set at the control. A signal from the sensor is monitored at the controller. The resultant output switches power to the heating element. Energy from the element gently heats the water, the amount of energy is determined by the sensor. The circulating pump runs continuously maintaining close temporal uniformity throughout the bath. The heater circulator may be supported on a fabricated bridge (standard with each Thermoline Scientific circulating water bath) or from an optional bath to heater bracket/clamp. Note: When working at temperatures above 60°C a suitable bath cover (lid) should be used to maintain the operating environment and minimise energy loss. PERFORMANCE The operating range for this equipment is +30°C to +100°C Model TU-1 is ambient +5°C to +100°C, Temporal Stability 0.5°C. MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE For this product is +100°C.

C-TICK The equipment referred to here complies with requirement of AS/NZS 1044:1995 electromagnetic interference (EMI).
INSTALLATION (Refer to Unpacking Page 2) Place the equipment in your bath in a well-ventilated area, on a firm level surface and ensure that a suitable power supply is available. WARNING: Ensure that the electrical outlet is earthed and is of the correct voltage and is capable of carrying the equipment stated current load (AMPS). The models TU-1 is suitable for bath use only.
MAINTENANCE The Thermoline Scientific range of heater circulators requires no routine maintenance other than normal levels of cleanliness. The external surface of the control enclosure is powder coated aluminium steel. It may be wiped clean using a damp, soft cloth. The element and pump housing, refer to following note). Note: Stainless steel is under most conditions extremely resistant to corrosion. This is in part due to the addition of chromium and nickel to the steel and the formation of a durable chromium oxide at the surface during the manufacturing process. There are several chemicals which will attack the surface of stainless steel, plus the lack of oxygen at the surface will cause rusting, corrosion and pitting. Distilled/Deionised water is particularly corrosive. To minimise, maintain a Neutral pH (7-9). Always have in place a program of regular cleaning using a soft damp cloth with a mild solution of soap and water and allow to dry. EXPLANATION OF CONTROLS The controls are located in a control enclosure above the heating element and pump housing assembly. MAIN SWITCH This is a combination power switch and circuit breaker, when pressed this switch allows power to be supplied to the controls and the pump circulating motor. Incorporated in the face of the switch is a ’MAINS ON’ indicating light. CAUTION: The equipment is fitted with a combination circuit breaker, mains switch. If the circuit breaker continues to trip, it may indicate an electrical fault exists. Switch Off the power and consult a qualified technician. The temperature range is +30°C to +100°C (Ambient +5°C) Model TU-1. The desired operating temperature is set at the control knob against the scale which is graduated at 2°C increments. The control is factory calibrated. Maximum recommended temperature is 100°C (Equipment Dependant).

ELECTRICAL - POWER LEAD A removable mains power lead with a three pin plug and right angle female IEC socket is supplied for connection between the male IEC socket located at the rear of the incubator (top left side) and a ten (10) Amp General Purpose Outlet (G.P.O.) Caution: Should the circuit breaker continue to trip, switch off the power and consult a qualified technician.

OPERATION WARNING: 1. To avoid injury do not use flammable solvents with this equipment, as fire or explosion may result. This equipment contains components that may ignite such materials. WARNING: 2. Do not introduce oil into this bath as the concentrated heat energy may result in Pyrolysis (Chemical Decomposition by Heat). OPERATING THE HEATER CIRCULATOR 1) Ensure that the heater circulator is located as previously described, refer to the index, LOCATION, Page 2. 2) Fill the bath with cool *clean water to a minimum of 80mm above the element. * - Refer to Page 4 section Maintenance for details on water condition and compatibility with stainless steel.
Warning: This equipment contains components rated at 240V AC. Ensure that it is secure and the control enclosure will not contact water.
3) Connect the electrical lead into a 10 Amp 240 Volt 50Hz GPO (General Purpose Outlet). 4) Select the desired operating temperature at the control knob Caution: Contact with hot fluid/vapours, bath surfaces or product under evaluation may result in personal injury, ensure appropriate protective equipment and procedures are applied at all times.
5) Turn the power outlet (GPO) and the heater circulator switch to the ON position and allow sufficient time for the water to stabilise. 6) When the water has stabilised, check the temperature with a mercury in glass thermometer (or similar) and adjust the control knob setting if necessary.
7) Optional – Support Bracket – TUSB

a)
The bracket is attached at the rear of the heater control case using the bolt and washers supplied.
b)
With the bracket attached, position the heater circulator over the edge of the bath, with the flat face of the bracket to the inside of the bath. Slowly tighten the screwed adjuster until the circular pad is held firm against the outside of the bath.
