Introduction
Safety notes when connecting the KR8100P/PA to a PC The KR-8100PA/KR-8100P has been prepared to be connected to a personal computer, a bar code reader and through a PC network. The party that connects the KR8100P/PA should take careful notice of the requirements in the standards IEC/EN 60601-1-1 and amendments. This standard is a collateral standard to the well-known IEC/EN 601 and specially deals with the aspect of interconnecting medical and non-medical equipment. The statements below are based on this standard.
Non medical equipment should comply with the relevant IEC or safety standardsapplicable for that type of equipment.
The enclosure leakage current from each apparatus (medical and non medical) connected in a system should not be higher then 0.5 mA in the single fault condition that the protective earth wire to the total system is broken. One particle solution to fulfil the above requirement is to power the equipment by a separation transformer. Network reminder: A Topcon MDD device connected to an hospital network must be connected through an optical separation device. This optical separation device must be connected to an another outlet then the separation transformer multiple portable socket outlets. Do not connect the optical separation device (for the network environment) to the separation transformer Topcon will not take any responsibilities when above warnings are ignored or disregard. Contact Topcon Europe B.V. in case you need information or support in this matter.
