AVEA™ ventilators Vyaire recommends this as guidance how to use our ventilators and take following steps to avoid infection and contamination: •	Please follow the WHO guidelines to prevent epidemic and pandemic infections from spreading •	Please follow the instructions for use for Vyaire (AVEA) ventilators at www.vyaire.com/Covid-19 •	Please follow the cleaning and disinfection instructions for www.vyaire.com/Covid-19 •	Always use an inspiratory bacteria filter (www.vyaire.com/ Covid-19) to protect the inspiratory side from contamination. •	The expiratory valve outlet incorporates a heated filter. There are reusable and single patient use filter/water trap options. • Avea disposable expiratory filter/water trap (Part number: 11790) • H EPA filtration element filters the expired gas to 0.3 microns • 99.999% Viral & Bacterial Filtration Efficacy (VFE/BFE) • 60% lower flow resistance than the reusable configuration • Single-patient-use reduces risk of process variability •	When patients who are actively humidified please use a bacterial filter on the inspiratory connector. There is no need to connect a bacterial filter between circuit and the expiratory block of the ventilator. •	Single-use consumables, such as breathing circuits, flow sensors (where necessary), airway adapters, and filters, can help to mitigate to cross contamination when the ventilator is reprocessed for use of the next patient. A list of consumables suitable for www.vyaire.com/Covid-19 is available on the Vyaire website •	When reusable materials are in use follow the hospital, manufacturers or the WHO guidelines for reprocessing these items •	For suctioning patients please use a closed suction system like the Verso to prevent cross contamination •	Disinfect the outer surfaces of the ventilators regularly during ventilation or after treatment of a patient with a suitable registered disinfectant. Consult the infection control team in your facility regarding the appropriate disinfectant or follow the instructions for use of the ventilator •	When using the suction tool on AVEA, ventilation will stop automatically when disconnected to prevent distribution of patient secretion.
