GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Connect light handle [73210 or 78000] to the No. 73305 transformer. Lamps in the 73210 and 78000 will illuminate immediately when connected to the transformer (optional No. 73308 on-off switch [formerly 733071] and No. 73400 rheostat controls are available; see current Welch Allyn catalog).

No. 78000 (Vaginal Speculum Light Handle)
A. Unscrew light handle sleeve to expose lamp.
B. Remove lamp by unscrewing counterclockwise. Replace with Welch Allyn Halogen lamp No. 07800 (formerly No. 04000). Remove lamp by unscrewing counterclockwise. Replace with Welch Allyn lamp No. 07800 (formerly No. 00800).
C. Replace light handle sleeve.
EXPENDABLE ILLUMINATOR INSTRUCTIONS No. 78800 (Series 58600 Vaginal Specula) This illuminator is used in conjunction with 58600 and 58601 Disposable Vaginal Specula, Vaginal Speculum Light Handle (78000), and Transformer (73305).
No. 78600 (Series 58600 Vaginal Specula continued) TO REMOVE ILLUMINATOR: 1. Place thumb at base of illuminator assembly and pull down. 2. Pull illuminator off of light handle.
TO PREPARE FOR USE: 1. Place illuminator on light handle.

2. Place illuminator and light handle into slot on 58600/58601 vaginal speculum handle. Slide illuminator assembly up until it locks into place.
CAUTION: LAMP BECOMES HOT DURING OPERATION.
TRANSFORMER No. 73305 (Vaginal and Endoscopic Instruments) This is a direct plug-in type transformer encased in a durable housing and doubly insulated for electrical safety. Simply plug it into a 110-130 V., 50-60 Hz., outlet, and the unit will be ready to power the 78000 Vaginal Speculum Light Handle or 73210 Endoscopic Instrument Light Handle.

CLEANING AND STERILIZATION No. 78000 VAGINAL SPECULUM LIGHT HANDLE AND No. 73210 ENDOSCOPIC INSTRUMENT LIGHT HANDLE These light sources can be autoclaved. Lamp must be left in. These units may also be wiped clean using alcohol or a dry cloth. The 78000 (purchased after May 1, 1988) may be soaked in the following solutions: l Cidex/Cidex 7 l Sporicidin l 70% Isopropyl Alcohol It will withstand ethylene oxide (130o F., 8 p.s.i., 4 hr. cycle) sterilization. No. 78600 VAGINAL SPECULUM EXPENDABLE ILLUMINATOR The 78600 Expendable Illuminator will withstand over 50 cycles of steam autoclaving (270o F, 27 p.s.i., 6 min. cycle), after each time the unit will show degradation of light transmission, and will eventually need replacement.
The 78600 Expendable Illuminator may be soaked in the following solutions: l Cidex/Cidex 7 l Sporicidin l 70% Isopropyl Alcohol DO NOT USE IODINE-BASED SOAKS (e.g. Betadine, Wescodyne) as these will discolor the illuminator and adversely affect light output. No. 73305 TRANSFORMER The transformer should not be autoclaved. It may be cleaned by wiping with a 70% isopropyl alcohol solution or with a dry cloth. DO NOT SOAK. It will withstand ethylene oxide (130o F., 8 p.s.i. 4 hr. cycle). No. 73308 LINE SWITCH (replaces 73307) The line switch should not be autoclaved. It may be gas sterilized using ethylene oxide. DO NOT SOAK IN GERMICIDAL SOLUTIONS. Unit may be wiped with alcohol.
MAINTENANCE Qualified personnel should perform periodic electrical inspections. We recommend that this equipment be inspected at least every six monthsmore often if used under severe operating conditions. LEAKAGE CURRENT TEST The leakage current measured at any place on the transformer or instruments with the unit plugged in should be less than 10 microamps. This is equivalent to 9.5 MV in the following circuit: 10.2 O
