Note to all users: The washer disinfector you have purchased is designed, tested and validated for cold, high level disinfection of immersible endoscopes. PLEASE NOTE: If a device is compatible with thermal disinfection or sterilization then this method is recommended.

DESIGN OF THE AER
The PT3 is a three bay Automatic Endoscope Reprocessor. It has three independent scope reprocessing bays allowing flexibility in operation.
As a pass through machine the PT3 has a CLEAN side and a DIRTY side. This ensures that clean scopes can not be recontaminated during transfer to and from the machine.
All access points for chemical change and service are located on the DIRTY side of the PT3 to reduce the risk of contamination of clean equipment.
The PT3 is designed to run on reverse osmosis water (RO) and the plant to generate this will be located alongside the PT3

GENERAL User Manual This manual provides instructions in the use, set-up and maintenance for the PT3 for users and supervisor level. The washer disinfector users should be given training in the actual application environment. This manual is not intended as a substitute for such training. Classification of User Levels For safety and security, as three user level • Operator • Supervisor • Maintenance Engineer/ Commissioning Engineer Safety Precautions Whilst the PT3 washer disinfector has built-in safety devices, their operation may be impaired if it is not used correctly and in accordance with the instruction. The internal components compartments should only be accessed by adequately trained personal only.

DIRTY SIDE
The main operator interface is on the DIRTY side where a touch screen monitor allows operators to input all details relating to the use and decontamination of the endoscope.
The touch screen monitor is also used to record details of chemical changes, initiate self disinfection cycles and update databases The monitor is accessible only to staff with approved access codes issued after training Progress of the decontamination cycle can be followed on the monitor. Any problems occurring during the cycle will be identifiable on the monitor and can be rectified on the DIRTY side. RFID tag readers and numeric ID input via the touch screen is used to detect which user is operating the machine, which scope and connection hug is being put into the bay. Users, scopes and connection hubs will have unique ID tags which when passed in front of the reader will log the relevant details. There is a reader per bay on the dirty side and just one on the clean side for all three bays. Located behind maintenance door on the dirty side is the ON / OFF switch allowing individual bays to be isolated for maintenance. PT3 Operator Manual V17 September 2012
Each bay of the machine has a STOP button located on the left side of the bay door and the bays will illuminate the following colours which will indicate the status of the cycle in each bay.

Indicates cycle passed - Bay ready for use - Flashing indicates locks released

Near the top of the machine there is an EMERGENCY STOP button that will shut down the whole machine if activated in an emergency.

CLEAN SIDE
On the CLEAN side of the machine one large touch screen monitor. This will display the status of the cycle throughout its duration and can be used to follow the progress of the cycle on each bay from the CLEAN side.
Any problems occurring during the cycle can be identified on the screen, but cannot be rectified from the CLEAN side.

The bay will illuminate a steady GREEN light on the CLEAN side to indicate when the cycle is complete, and an RFID reader or the touch screen number pad can be used to either to scan the operator unloading or to enter a pin number to enable the scope to be removed from the bay.

SELECT BAY Bays that are running will have their BLUE light illuminated.
Once the bay is selected it will be air dried before the door lock is released. The door can not be opened until the air dry is complete. . On the DIRTY side the bay must be UNLOCKED before the door can be opened
The a flashing GREEN light will indicate that the door lock has been deactivated and the door can be opened DO NOT attempt to force the door as this will render the machine inoperable. Once opened the scope tray can be removed from the machine, and the dirty scope placed on it and connected for reprocessing.

MAIN MENU The main menu screen is the point of access for all operator functions of the PT3. The screen gives three program options, and details about the current disinfectant in use.
DISINFECTANT DETAILS Details regarding the current batch of chemical in use are shown at the bottom of the main menu screen
The batch numbers of both Chemical A and B are shown along with dates changed and expiry dates for each of the chemicals. These will be updated every time the chemical is changed.

This allows the machine to be unlocked, and requires a PIN number or RFID tag to access it. A GREEN light in the bay will flash when the door has been unlocked successfully and will continue to flash until the bay door is closed and locks. The automated bay lock will only activate once the door has been closed. The machine will ALWAYS lock itself after PURGING The unlock screen is shown below. In cases where the unlock is following an error, the PINK box will contain any details or instructions relating to that error

STARTING A CYCLE
LOADING THE ENDOSCOPE
Each bay has a scope cleaning tray inside. This tray is removable from both the DIRTY and CLEAN sides for ease of loading and unloading.
The scope MUST be loaded from the DIRTY side following manual cleaning. The scope should be loosely coiled around the tray ensuring that it is not twisted or kinked in any way. All channels of the scope will need connectors for irrigation. A variety of connector hubs will be supplied for the specific scope requirements of each department. They have colour coded tubing to minimize confusion.

A leak tester will also be included with each hub, and must be attached prior to starting the cycle. The connectors should be attached to the scope in its loading tray. The tray should then be slid into position in the bay, and the hub is then plugged into the hub socket. Care should be taken to ensure that the connectors do not impede rotation of the spray arm – a manual rotation of this should be undertaken prior to starting every cycle to confirm this.

ACCESSING THE START CYCLE SCREEN
START
This allows access to the cleaning cycle of the machine. Selecting this allows operators to input relevant scope information and start the decontamination cycle
When this is selected the machine will start pre-dosing the chemical for the disinfection stage. If there is insufficient chemical or detergent to run the cycle, one of the following screens will be displayed.

The container should be checked – see chapter 6 - If the container is not empty, TRY AGAIN should be pressed or OK if it is the detergent warning, if the container needs changing the ENTER NEW DETAILS should be pressed.

If there is sufficient disinfectant chemical to run the cycle, the operator will first be asked to enter their PIN number this can be done by either swiping the users ID card in front of the RFID reader or manually entering their ID number using the touch screen pad
The users should press ENTER when they have entered their pin number to go to the next screen or if using RFID show the tag to the reader and it will automatically go to the next screen.

The scope should either be swiped against the RFID reader, or the scope ID number should be manually entered using the touch screen. The users should press ENTER when the scope identification number is displayed. This will move users to the next screen to input the endoscope connector hub.
The button located on the bottom of the screen on the right can be used when the previous scope process was aborted or failed, when pressed it will display the following confirmation screen.
When the YES button is pressed, the next screen will display the data from the previous cycle which can be re-used by pressing ok. Scan or key in the connector hub reference number and press ENTER it will now take you to the next screen which will allow you to input patients details

The screen below enables the operator to input details of the patient on whom the scope was previously used. This should be in the form of either hospital identification number or NHS number, names should NOT be used.
should be selected for scopes being processed for the first time in a day, to identify that the scope has not yet been used on a patient. Endoscopist information will not be required.
The users should press once the patient ID number is displayed. This will move them to the next screen to input details of the endoscopist. Endoscopist details should be added for all dirty scopes being processed to identify who has used the scope.

The name should be selected from the drop down list, or can be manually typed using the touch screen. Once all the data has been successfully entered the start cycle screen will be displayed. This allows the data inputted to be checked, and the cycle started.
Whilst the data is being inputted the machine will commence dosing the chemical disinfectant in preparation for the disinfectant phase. The cycle can not be started until the chemical has been correctly dosed. This allows the user to change the chemical disinfectant prior to starting a cycle, ensuring it does not run out mid cycle. If the user presses the START button before the dosing is complete the following screen will be displayed, the user should check there is sufficient chemical. the chemical needs changing select “ENTER NEW DETAILS” and change the necessary chemical as described in chapter 6

STARTING MONITORING
Once all these details have been inputted, and checked as correct, touching the START button will open the confirmation screen shown below.
Selecting CANCEL will take the operator back to the START CYCLE SCREEN Selecting MONITORING will start the AER wash, disinfection and monitoring cycle. The bay can not be accessed once the cycle has been started.
N.B.
Both the DIRTY and the CLEAN doors must be closed prior to selecting MONITORING and staring the cycle.
